FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about TrackSorter, explained simply.

What is TrackSorter?

Software that sorts your track photos by vehicle and gives you back the hours you spent sorting.

TrackSorter is photo-sorting software for motorsport and trackday photographers, published by SPYK SAS in France. It groups a day's photos and videos by vehicle, from the front, side and rear, even without a visible race number or plate. You check the groups and get one folder per vehicle; your originals are never modified.

It is built on nearly 10 years of experience in AI-assisted photo sorting, with millions of images sorted. TrackSorter organizes your photos: it does not edit them and does not pick the best shots for you.

Getting Started

What exactly is TrackSorter?

TrackSorter automatically sorts your track photos, cars and motorcycles, into one folder per vehicle or per rider. It recognizes each vehicle by its appearance, from the front, side or rear, even without a visible number. You check the groups; your originals stay untouched. TrackSorter does not edit or select your photos: it organizes them.

Who is TrackSorter for?

Photographers who cover trackdays, open sessions and races, cars or motorcycles: freelancers, agencies and teams of several photographers. TrackSorter is built for days when every participant has to get their own photos out of thousands of others, including vehicles that carry no number.

Does it work if race numbers or plates are not visible?

Yes, and that's our main strength. TrackSorter identifies each vehicle by its overall appearance, not just its number. Grouping works even without race numbers, without license plates, or with masked information. Vehicles cropped by the frame or partially hidden behind another one are detected too. Numbers, plates, sponsors and rider gear are read when visible and add to the identification.

Which vehicle types are recognized?

TrackSorter sorts cars and motorcycles across every circuit discipline: trackdays, open pit lane sessions and racing. Bikes are sorted by rider, from the front, side or rear. For road cars, the software also gives the make, model and license plate when it is readable. Karting, quads and trucks are not supported yet.

Does the AI improve over time?

Yes. Our AI keeps learning from the sorting validated by photographers: the more the service is used, the more accurate the groupings get. The software is continuously and reactively developed thanks to user feedback: it is built by and for track photographers.

I'm not tech-savvy, can I use this?

AI-powered automatic sorting within reach of every photographer.

The process is very simple:
1. Select a folder of photos
2. Validate the automatic groupings proposed
3. Apply the sorting to your originals

No complex configuration, no technical settings. Our software was designed to be used by photographers, not IT specialists. If you have any questions, our team is here to help.

Do my photos leave my computer?

Your originals, no: they stay on your computer. Only lightweight thumbnails (small versions of your photos) are sent for analysis, carried out in France. Your original RAW or JPEG files don't move until you've decided how to sort them: TrackSorter then moves or copies them on your computer, one folder per vehicle, and never modifies them.

Does it work with my RAW files?

Yes, from the Premium plan up: Canon CR2 and CR3, Nikon NEF, Sony ARW, Fujifilm RAF, Panasonic RW2, Olympus ORF and DNG, with no need to convert them to JPEG first. JPEG, PNG, TIFF and BMP files work on every plan. The free month of Premium you get at signup includes RAW.

Does it work with my videos?

Yes, from the Premium plan up (MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV, M4V, MTS and M2TS). Videos are analyzed like photos and sorted with the photos of the same vehicle. By default, a video uses 4 credits.

How long does it take to sort my photos?

Analysis runs in the background, so you can upload throughout the day. Then plan on a few dozen minutes of checking for a typical day, where sorting the same photos by hand easily takes 8 hours. See the detailed step-by-step workflow →

Credits and Subscriptions

How much does TrackSorter cost?

You can start for free: at signup you get 3,000 credits and 1 month of Premium, no credit card required. After that, you pay for the credits you use: about 1.1 credits per photo on average, so a typical 3,000-photo day uses about 3,300 credits, about €33 (≈ $37) in packs.

Credit packs: 3,000 credits for €30, 10,000 credits for €90, 30,000 credits for €250. Credits never expire.
Subscriptions (optional; they add speed, options and credits included every month): Standard €15, Premium €60, Agency €120 per month. On a yearly plan, you pay 9 months for 12.

Prices exclude VAT. See all prices →

How do credits work?

One credit is used for each vehicle detected. Depending on the setting chosen in the application, a photo can count one or more vehicles.

Pay for what you upload. Only the images you send are counted: about 1.1 credits per photo on average, so a typical 3,000-photo day uses about 3,300 credits. By default, a video uses 4 credits.

You can see your credit balance at any time on your subscription page.

Do my credits expire?

No. Your credits remain available as long as you don't use them. Even if your subscription expires, your credits are kept. You can use them whenever you want.

How many credits do I get with a free account?

When you create your account, you receive 3,000 free credits and 1 month of Premium, no credit card required. That is enough to sort a real track day: about 2,700 photos with the default settings, RAW and video included during the Premium month.

What are the different subscriptions?

Each subscription adds features, analysis speed and credits included every month:

Free: 3,000 credits + 1 month of Premium, given once at signup to discover the service
Standard: for occasional photographers, 1,000 credits included per month
Premium: for regular photographers, RAW and video, 5,000 credits per month, up to 5,000 photos per hour
Agency: for teams, up to 5 photographer accounts, 10,000 credits per month, up to 10,000 photos per hour

Can I change my subscription?

You can upgrade to a higher subscription at any time. The change is immediate and your remaining days are carried over.

Note: Downgrading to a lower subscription is not possible. If you don't want to renew, your account simply returns to the free version at the end of the period, and you keep your credits.

I want to save money, how can I do that?

Good news: annual subscriptions are more affordable. By taking a yearly subscription, you get 3 months free. It's like paying for 9 months instead of 12.

Referral Program

What is the referral program?

It's simple: you recommend TrackSorter to a fellow photographer. When they sign up and take a paid subscription, you both receive free credits as a gift. It's a win-win.

How do I refer someone?

It's very easy:

1. Log in to your TrackSorter account
2. Go to the "Referral" section in your dashboard
3. You'll find your personal referral code (or a link to share)
4. Send this code or link to your photographer colleagues

When they sign up and get a subscription, credits are automatically added to both accounts.

How many credits do I get for referring?

The credits offered correspond to the value of the subscription chosen by your referral. For example, if your referral gets a Standard subscription, you both receive the equivalent of one month of Standard credits.

Is there a limit to referrals?

Yes, to prevent abuse, you can refer up to 20 people per year. This counter resets on January 1st. That's plenty to recommend the service to all your colleagues.

How does my referral use my code?

Your referral can enter your code (or your email) when paying for their first subscription. There's a field for it on the payment page. You can also send them your referral link directly, so the code will be pre-filled.

Am I notified when I receive credits?

Yes. You receive an email as soon as your referral finalizes their subscription. You'll also see the credits appear in your account history.

Promo Codes and Discounts

Where do I enter a promo code?

Promo codes are entered in your Subscription page. You'll find a dedicated field to enter your code. Click "Apply" and if the code is valid, the benefits will be displayed immediately.

How do I know if my promo code is still valid?

Simply enter the code on the payment page. The system will immediately tell you if it's valid or not, and show you the applicable discount. Codes sometimes have an expiration date or maximum number of uses.

Can I use a promo code AND a referral code?

Yes, you can combine both. The referral code is limited to 1 per account (usable on your first purchase). However, promo codes have no limit: you can use multiple ones over time, depending on availability.

What can a promo code give me?

Promo codes can offer you different benefits:

- Free subscription months
- Bonus credits
- Or sometimes both at once.

The exact details depend on each code.

Where can I find promo codes?

We share promo codes on occasions like:

- Photography shows and motorsports events
- On our social media
- In our newsletter
- Through our partners (photo training, magazines, etc.)

Keep your eyes open.

Do I receive an invoice?

Yes, of course. After each payment, you automatically receive a PDF invoice by email. You can also find all your invoices in your client area, under "History".

I'm a professional in France, what VAT do I pay?

You pay French VAT at the standard rate of 20%. This VAT is detailed on your invoice and is recoverable if you are VAT registered.

I'm a professional in another EU country, do I pay VAT?

I'm outside the European Union, do I pay VAT?

Practical Questions

Does it work on Windows, Mac and Linux?

Yes: Windows 10 or 11, macOS 12 or later (Apple M1 and newer), Linux. No need for a powerful computer: no graphics card, 8 GB of memory is enough, 16 GB recommended. The application is available in your workspace.

Which languages is TrackSorter available in?

The website is available in English, French, Spanish, German and Italian. The desktop application, the online sorting workspace and the visitor galleries are in English.

Can I automate TrackSorter or connect it to my own software?

Yes. The software includes a scriptable command-line interface (CLI) with JSON output: processing, monitoring and sorting can be driven by your own scripts. The Agency plan also provides API access to per-vehicle groupings so you can connect TrackSorter to your gallery or sales system. Full documentation ships with the software.

Do I need an internet connection?

Yes, an internet connection is required: TrackSorter has no offline mode. It doesn't need to be fast: only lightweight thumbnails are sent (about 1 GB for 3,000 photos), 4G is enough, and you can upload in several batches. You can even start the analysis from the track, using your phone as a hotspot.

Are my photos stored on your servers?

No. Your original photos stay on your computer. We only store thumbnails and analysis results. You maintain full control over your photos.

Where is my data hosted?

The solution is 100% hosted in France, outside the big US clouds, on servers we own outright. Your images are never commercially exploited and your copyright is fully respected. The software is 100% proprietary, developed in-house.

Can I use TrackSorter on multiple computers?

Yes, you can install TrackSorter on multiple computers and log in with the same account. Note: only one session can be active at a time for security reasons.

I need to sort more than 10,000 photos per hour

Each plan has its own analysis rate: up to 300 photos per hour on Free, 1,000 on Standard, 5,000 on Premium and 10,000 on Agency. Beyond that, a Burst mode is available on request: up to 25,000 photos per hour, depending on available capacity. For a larger or recurring volume, contact us to arrange it for your dates.

How fast will my photos be analyzed?

Your plan sets a maximum speed per account: up to 5,000 photos per hour on Premium and up to 10,000 on Agency. This per-account cap keeps processing times steady for everyone: you upload throughout the day and the analysis keeps pace. Burst mode (up to 25,000 photos per hour, on request) uses spare capacity and is not a guaranteed rate. For specific needs, contact us.

How do I contact support?

Use our contact form. We usually respond within 24 hours on business days. Feel free to detail your issue, it helps us respond faster.

Tips

How can I maximize vehicle recognition?

Check out our best practices guide to optimize detection quality. You'll find tips on shooting angles, lighting, and recommended settings.

Can someone else sort my photos?

Yes, with the Agency plan: each team member (up to 5 photographer accounts) has their own login, and several people can sort the same event at the same time. Your photos are uploaded from the track, and an assistant sorts them in the browser, from anywhere, while you keep shooting. On other plans, an account belongs to one person: only one session is active at a time and login credentials are not shared (see our Terms). You can still upload from the track and sort later from any computer.

Can I enter an entry list?

Yes. You can enter the entry list (riders or vehicles) and the expected vehicle count per group: grouping and folder naming get more accurate. See the guide and the best practices for how to do it. Session and group management is built in: each group stays separated.

How does TrackSorter help me sell more photos?

In two ways. 1. Responsiveness: your photos are analyzed and grouped as you upload, during the event. You validate the sort that evening or the next morning, and deliver while participants' excitement is at its peak. 2. Per-vehicle galleries: share a live gallery during the event (each new matching photo is added automatically) or a hand-validated selection gallery once the event is sorted. The page is customizable and can link to your payment site. Participants see all their photos at a glance, and buy more. All at a reasonable cost: a typical 3,000-photo day uses about 3,300 credits, about €33 in packs (≈ $37). A day of manual sorting becomes a few dozen minutes of checking, and your sales come in sooner. See the three concrete scenarios →

You are charged in euros. Your bank automatically converts the amount into your own currency at its exchange rate, and may add a foreign transaction fee. Dollar amounts are shown for reference only (ECB rate of 2026-10-05). Outside the EU there is no VAT: the price shown is the price you pay.
